'In the United States we are not seeing anything that I would consider to be a second wave,' says Loren Lipworth-Elliot, an epidemiologist at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. 'We are definitely in the first wave, if you want to call it a wave—it’s just a long, lingering epidemic.'"
